  The Setup If you’ve ever shopped on Lamington Road, Mumbai , you’ve heard it’s India’s “tech paradise.” But behind that reputation hides a thriving trade in refurbished and repaired laptops being passed off as brand-new . I learned this the hard way earlier this year — and I’m sharing my story so others don’t become the next victims. The Fraud On 23 May 2025 , I bought an ASUS ROG Zephyrus Laptop (₹1,50,000) from Next Generation Computers , located at 307, Irani Building, Grant Road East, Lamington Road, Mumbai – 400007 . The owner, Aman Bokadia , promised it was a brand-new sealed product . Days later, the speaker failed . When I contacted ASUS Support , they confirmed — under RMA Case ID INQLT60036 — that the laptop had already been repaired earlier for the same issue . It was a refurbished unit , resold as new.
